Liam has really settled in well to Rain Trees. Has not asked to go back to his old school. I was quite anxious about this transition as he has so many friends at his former school. We are continuing to see his friends regularly during the week and weekends. I have not seen Liam come out of his school at pickup with a smile beaming so brightly as I did last Thursday and Friday. I wish to extend a thank you to Rain Trees staff for making Liam’s introduction such a welcoming and positive one. Liam cried yesterday morning because he wasn’t going to school. This hasn’t happened before! Thank you ever so much! The communications and administration from Rain Trees has been flawless. This is so refreshing for me.
Amalie has had a wonderful time at Rain Trees and the friendly staff have made her and the whole family feel very welcome. She is so excited about coming each morning and has enjoyed all the activities and experiences provided for her. As a parent I really appreciate being able to communicate directly with her class teacher on a daily basis and sharing in her learning. Thank you to everyone there for making us feel part of the Rain Trees community. It will be hard to find somewhere in Australia that matches up!

Zara has had a fantastic first week. She is so happy to be going to Rain Trees and tells me that she has made some new friends already. I can’t tell you what a relief it is that she has settled in so well and is enjoying it so much. Thank you to you and all the staff for making her feel so welcome.
Millie and Izzy will really miss Rain Trees and their friends there! I can honestly say it has been the best thing about our time in Singapore! We really appreciate all the kindness and friendship everyone has shown us. I don’t think we will ever forget it!
My three year old son Samuel attends Rain Trees Kindergarten and absolutely loves it! Recently while on school holidays we were dropping his Dad off to work and he said, ‘Mum, where’s my school bag?’ When I told him it was the holidays he was a little upset! We were very lucky as we were recommended Rain Trees by a friend and decided on the first visit that it would be a great place for Samuel. We met with Katie Terry and she showed us around Rain Trees. Samuel didn’t make it past the outdoor play area he loved it so much! We visited the classrooms and Katie answered all the questions I had. Rain Trees is spacious and inviting and It really had a great feel about it. It wasn’t a hard decision to make as Samuel wanted to stay on our first visit. I started Samuel in the Caterpillars class last October. Samuel initially started 2 mornings per week. I was planning to wait until Samuel was three before I extended this to 5 mornings per week but he was enjoying it so much I extended it to 3 then 5 mornings just before Christmas. Like any Mum I expected there to be tears on his first day, but there were so many things in the room, that he just wanted to start exploring, it was just a matter of a kiss and a cuddle and bye Mummy and he was off. It really helped that his teacher Karen was so engaging with him from the word go. Karen really gets down on to the kids level and teaches them in a way that is fun and stimulating for them. The whole team at Rain Trees are really lovely. I feel what Samuel does there is just such a great extension to what we do at home and could not recommend them enough. I have had the good fortune of already sending 3 of my 5 children to Rain Trees and cannot recommend it highly enough. The creative and nurturing environment is far superior to any other kindergarten that I have found either in Singapore or back home. It helped us enormously in our early days settling into Singapore knowing that our children were so happy and cared for at this beautiful place. Each day we felt as though we were leaving our children in the hands of a most trusted member of family. The teachers and their assistants are second to none; their enthusiasm, warmth and humor are infectious and you cannot help but be in a good mood stepping through the door. The warm, happy greeting the children receive each morning makes it so easy to say goodbye. The setting of the kindergarten in a beautiful, green and tranquil environment makes it the perfect backdrop to the “natural” education the children receive. The fun and imaginative activities the children do every day are a fantastic introduction to their education and developing a love of learning. I always look forward to pick up time knowing that my 3 year old will be so eager to share with me the latest great activity she has done or to show me her latest creation. While they are having so much fun, each activity is pertinent in some way to their educational development and the connection between fun and learning never ceases to amaze me. It is a testament to the experience and the dedication of the teachers to encourage each child’s learning in this way. Each child’s individualism is embraced and difference and acceptance is encouraged. The children all gain both social confidence and thoughtful consideration of each other and each other’s needs. The quality of learning in the development of skills such as reading, mathematics and language makes for easy transition to “big school”. The Mandarin and English bridging programs are excellent. You feel at the end of your child’s time at Rain Trees that they are well and truly prepared for their primary years, although of course you would like them to stay there for all of their education if it were possible! Recent changes in management have seen further improvements such as daily and weekly update emails of what the children are doing in class. The daily updates include their activities for the day and photos of the previous day. We look forward to seeing these and often circulate them to relatives who take great joy in seeing a grandchild or niece etc at play. It is a great way of staying in touch with the kindergarten and makes you feel even more part of your child’s day, like a window into the classroom. I look forward to sending my twin baby boys to Rain Trees when they are ready so as to experience the same delightful introduction to their schooling years that their sisters have all received.
As an expat, going on someone else’s recommendation, I could not have made a better decision for my child and his introduction to schooling and education. I really can’t say enough about the lovely lovely, dedicated team of professionals at Rain Trees. They far exceeded my expectations. They’re like family.
Wonderful caring teachers, great international community, and fun, educational curriculum! Over 8 years, my 2 children have thrived under the gentle care of Ms Tina and her team. Learning is adapted to each child and ensures they can make the transition to primary school easily. Most importantly, the children learn wonderful social skills through the teachers’ gentle and consistent approach.
Rain Trees Kindergarten was the highlight of our 6 year stay in Singapore as Australian Expats. Tina Lim has touched the lives of all three of our children – she is one of those inspirational people you strive to have in your children’s lives. We were attracted to Rain Trees due to the intimate nurturing environment and during our time there have seen how seamlessly they adapt to the individual’s needs. Its play based pedagogy comes alive in a positive, affirming environment in which not only the students but indeed the parents and siblings all become part of the Rain Trees family. I firmly believe that our relationship with Rain Trees and Tina has given our children the best foundation in schooling and Tina has continued to share in our children’s successes and happiness in life. We chose to extend our first born’s time in Rain Trees and in fact he continued to return as a big brother helper when his brother went through school at Rain Tress. The love and concern our second child was bathed in during his chronic illness epitomises the generosity of the teachers and the living heart within this school. It is truly a celebration of early learning at its best.
When our first child started school we did a thorough search for a place in Singapore where we believed that not only would she enjoy learning but her inner self would be recognised and cared for. We found that school at Rain Trees. As a result our first two children have been blessed by starting school there and remember their teachers, as we do, with great pride and affection. It has in fact been challenging to find other teaching staff at subsequent schools who match up to the great commitment and cohesion of the team at Rain Trees. Our children played, learnt, enjoyed and were safe, happy and loved for who they are as individuals at Rain Trees. Each school they have attended since has commented on their manners, school readiness and general attitude to others and to learning. I attribute much of that to the synchronicity between home and school that they were provided with at Rain Trees. In leaving Singapore my husband and I often comment that our main sadness is that our youngest child did not have the chance to start at the same place her siblings did. It was a wonderful, nurturing, individually focussed and truly wholly educational experience for us as a family. Thank you Rain Trees for such a lovely gift for our precious children.
Sienna attended Rain Trees Kindergarten for two years , and what a great grounding she got for her next step to big school. She absolutely loved attending Rain Trees, and her teacher’s, Ms Tina and Ms Karen, created memories for Sienna that I am sure she will never forget. Rain Trees manages to balance very well the play environment and the learning environment, so that the children are learning the basics in a fun, but structured way. Sienna’s transition to her new school was seamless, and I can thank Rain Trees for giving Sienna such a great start to her little school life, by giving her the tools to proceed with confidence. As a mother, that is something that I never take for granted.
I would wholeheartedly recommend any child going to Rain Trees for as long as possible. The children are filled with confidence and learn kindness and tolerance of each other as well as the requisite academics. Tina Lim and her staff are unique and great relationships form between children and parents alike with them. I can’t think of a better start for any child.
