Rain Trees
International Preschool Singapore

Established in 1999, Rain Trees is an independent, international preschool and kindergarten in Singapore.

We are a small school with a big heart, known for our supportive and inclusive atmosphere, which provides children aged 18 months to 6 years a stimulating and friendly learning environment.

At Rain Trees, the emphasis is on learning through play in an environment planned to stimulate independence, discovery and social interaction.

Children are encouraged to help themselves and take initiative in order to develop self-esteem, social competence and become increasingly independent.

A large number of our students are from the international community in Singapore. Our aim is to help each individual child enjoy learning in a safe and caring environment and as they progress through the school we prepare them for a seamless transition to an international primary school.

Rain Trees is owned and managed by a combination of British and Singapore citizens since its establishment in 1999. Over time we have modified the British based curriculum to meet the particular demands and needs of the international expatriate community in the Asia Pacific region. In addition to offering a modern topic based curriculum, Rain Trees is noted for its small and family orientated environment which many parents prefer to be their child’s first school experience.

We have a strong and dedicated team of local and international teaching staff offering well-rounded programmes that provide a solid learning foundation for our younger children and prepare our older children for a successful transition to an international primary school.

A Typical Day at Rain Trees

The school day is structured to provide a familiar time table for the children.

Arrival of ChildrenChildren arrive at staggered timing to ensure a calm and easy drop off, and have their temperature taken and hands sanitised.

They then enjoy free play in their classrooms at various stations before sitting down for circle time with their teacher to talk about the day’s activities.
Learning TimeThe children then work and play in small groups with a teacher. Activities will vary according to the current topic, but will include maths, reading , writing, science, art and craft and cooking.

Rain Trees is pleased to have a dedicated Mandarin teacher who works with all the classes to give 30-45 minutes of Mandarin a day.

With plenty of reading material for all ages and book corners for the children to read in, Rain Trees encourages the children to value and care for books and to develop an appreciation for reading from an early age.

Each week the children can enjoy cooking in our kitchen, where they develop the skills and understanding of cooking in a fun and healthy way.
Break & SnackSnack time each day provides the children with the opportunity for language development, social interaction and table manners. During this time, the children enjoy healthy snacks that are brought in from home.
PlaytimeThe children are given plenty of time for outside play and to make use of our fabulous garden. Aside from a wonderful mud kitchen, a planting area, climbing frames, ride-on toys and various outdoor games, the children have the freedom to run around, play and have fun with their friends in a completely safe space.

Splash time on a Friday is a wonderful weekly activity, giving the children the opportunity to change into their swimsuits and enjoy supervised play with water in the garden.
End of DayBy the end of their day, the children are excited to return home and share all the fun about what they have learned that day. The school day ends with a story and good-bye song.

There is an optional English or  Mandarin afternoon session until 2.30pm, once their midday nap has been reduced or dropped.

COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS

Communication is very important to us at Rain Trees and we strive to keep parents informed as much
as possible. We do this through the following:

Daily Updates

Each class sends out a daily update every morning of the activities that they have done in school that day. This not only helps you to know what is going on but to encourage language development at home whereby you can discuss your child’s day with them. The daily update includes photos taken from the previous day.

Tadii App

Parents will all receive their own personal login details for Taidii. It is used daily to maintain regular direct communication between teachers and parents. Photos will also be shared regularly on this.

Parent / Teacher Meetings

Throughout the year our teachers are happy to meet with you should you feel the need or have any concerns. Likewise, our teachers will contact you for a meeting if they feel it would be beneficial.

School Reports

We give out school reports once a year in June/July. If your child leaves mid school year we will give you a leavers report.

We greatly appreciated the approach proposed by Raintrees, which is both caring and respectful of the development of each child. The teaching team is gentle, welcoming, reassuring and very competent. There is a real love for the profession and the children in this school. The administrative team is charming, very welcoming, and keen to make you feel at home.We have seen our daughter flourish from the age of 18months to 3 and a half years. She always went to school with enthusiasm and curiosity. We are leaving Singapore and consequently leaving the school with deep regret.Raintrees will remain the best choice we have made for our youngest and we will miss each person of the team.

We feel truly lucky that our child got to grow in Raintrees!. It’s a fun and nurturing environment that focuses on kids as individuals and we have literally seen our son blossom since starting there. Unparalleled outside space and their wonderful teachers truly make this a rare gem in Singapore.

Rain Trees is a truly outstanding School and we feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful Pre-School. Our son loves it and has blossomed under the care, nurture and education he receives at RT. The Teachers and Staff are incredible and the communication is wonderful. It is so nice to see at the end of the day photographs of all the happy children in their activities. We are so fortunate to be part of a large community of families that has bought us many wonderful friendships. We love the welcoming smiles in the morning as we arrive for School and the energy you feel from the premises. The site is truly outstanding and there is nothing that compares to it in Singapore! A beautiful landed house, with the most amazing large garden for the children to be able to run freely around in. The Friday "splash play" outside is the highlight of the week! We are grateful for the opportunities to come into the School, whether it is to help run a cooking class, be a 'Mystery Reader" or attend family events. It's a special place is so many ways and I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

We went to visit Rain Trees within two weeks of arriving in Singapore from the UK, with a 19-month-old in tow. Over a year later it is still absolutely the best part about being in Singapore. It is of course a gorgeous school for anyone to see - with beautiful grounds and bright, airy classrooms and a soft play room. But it is the fantastic team at Rain Trees that brings the school to life! From Principal Rohini, Judy and the incomparable Mel waiting at the gates every single morning to welcome the kids (and parents) and all the lovely teachers, the school sets its tone from the minute you step foot in the door - it is a delightfully welcoming, warm and fun place to be in.More than the curriculum itself, we were keen to have our daughter go to a loving, attentive, inclusive and engaging school with lots of outdoor time. Rain Trees has more than met our criteria. It is a tight-knit, vibrant community where the parents feel as much a part of the school as the children. The school celebrates festivals from all over the world which has been one of the highlights for us and such a great way to introduce the little ones (and their parents!) to different cultures. Our daughter has been thriving here - we have a happy toddler always singing, telling stories, counting numbers and devising clever ways to convince us to take her to school on weekends as well! What has however made our experience at the school really special is seeing how lovingly and wholeheartedly our daughter has been embraced by everyone at Rain Trees. Every time we speak to the teachers we are surprised at just how attentive they have been to her personality traits and how well they understand and nurture our little girl. The best thing about Rain Trees? Every morning we drop our daughter off at school, we are always left feeling that everyone at Rain Trees is just as delighted to get to spend time with her as she is to be at the school. As parents, this is such a precious thing to take with us. The ‘big’ school our daughter will move to when it is time, will have big shoes to fill. We could not recommend Rain Trees enough. It is the best start for a child, full of love and adventure and we are so glad to have found it for ours.~ Priya Bora

My youngest daughter has thrived in raintrees. At age 2 she was speaking in mandarin and English! At age 3 she is starting to read (and write). The love she receives from the teachers makes me feel like it's an extension of home. I have always felt welcomed as a parent and I am one of those parents who annoyingly turns up randomly to pick my child up depending on my schedule. The grounds are bright with sunshine and always filled with laughter.Going waaaaay beyond the necessary...This isn't a preschool or playgroup....this is education and love at its finest and I couldn't have asked for a better more wonderful environment.

Raintrees is such a fantastic school. My daughter adores it and we feel so comforted knowing she is in a safe, fun, nurturing environment every day. She always has so many stories and songs from her day and the teachers and staff are so amazing at keeping us parents updated and communication is fantastic. My baby will be joining in next year too, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice to send our little ones to Raintrees!

Rain Trees is an amazing school where their top priority is creating a nurturing, kind and caring environment for the children that is also very fun! My daughter loves the school and she comes back with different stories and songs every day. We will be sending my son as soon as he is ready for school. The site is also fantastic with tons of space for them to run around and burn off energy, and plenty of space for creativity! Finally, each teacher that I've come across at Rain Trees has had the same calm, caring and supportive qualities you would look for in a teacher of your tiny ones.

Rain Trees International is a truly wonderful school! The education environment is kind and caring, nurturing the full potential of each child. The staff is absolutely fantastic, from the friendliest admin staff I've ever encountered, to the passionate and enthusiastic teachers. Both my sons are at Rain Trees. My eldest son has been to several schools, as we have moved around a bit, and this is by far his favourite school. My younger son has just started and the transition has been a breeze. He already loves school! I highly recommend this school for those seeking excellent education in a nurturing and caring environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

We accept new students throughout the year.

Rain Trees International Preschool Singapore accepts students from all countries including Singaporeans.

The UK EYFS curriculum is the British Statutory Early Years curriculum that ensures that educational practitioners can effectively support and nurture the learning and development of children. It is a play-based approach to learning that incorporates seven areas of learning that ensures children are meeting their developmental milestones.

Rain Trees is predominantly an English school and offers Mandarin as a second language. Our children are taught in English. We have some students who join the school with no understanding of spoken English but who quickly learn within our supportive and inclusive classroom.

Our children have Mandarin every day as our mandarin teacher spends about 30-45 mins a day in each class. There is an option to do a Mandarin immersion afternoon session for those children who would like more.

Or children bring their own healthy snack and lunch and water bottle (if they are staying for lunch). They also need a spare set of clothing and a nappy/diaper (if still using). Our children also have their own sunhat and pair of wellies kept in school. Rain Trees children do not wear a uniform but we recommend that our students wear clothes that you will not mind if they get dirty (play can get messy at times!)

Friday is our school splash time. Children come to school wearing their swimsuits and ready to play – however if the weather is bad then splash time is cancelled and children change back into their home clothes.
