Background: Katie is a director of Rain Trees and is responsible for the overall management of the school. She has been in Singapore for over 15 years and spent most of her childhood and twenties in Hong Kong. Katie is married to Hugh and they have 3 children all born in Singapore.
Teaching Experience: Rohini started teaching nearly 20 years ago, and moved to Early Years teaching about 10 years ago. She has had extensive teaching experience in Singapore including imparting the International Baccalaureate Curriculum at Eton House and taking leadership roles.
Nationality: Indian / Singaporean
Background: Rohini has lived in Singapore for 18 years and has a daughter who studied in Oxford University and is now completing her Masters in New York University. Her teaching philosophy includes the tenet that effective learning requires a collaboration between teachers, students and parents grounded in mutual trust and respect. She also believes strongly that the best learning happens when its fun and positive.
Teaching Experience: Gail has around 13 years experience working with infants and kindergarten children. She worked for 4 years in a school with children who have learning difficulties and is also a professional trainer for Jolly Phonics/Grammar. She has worked in schools in England, Hong Kong, Bahrain and Singapore.
Background: Married with three children and moved to Singapore from Hong Kong in summer 2012. Every child in my class will be treated with kindness and respect. The learning that takes place within the classroom will be interesting, meaningful and be taught in a fun way.
Gail enjoys the outdoors, sports, travelling to new places, cooking, baking, sewing, experiments and artwork.
Teaching Experience: Alba has worked in Primary and Early Years as a supply teacher, class teacher and reception stage coordinator for almost 6 years. She has experience teaching in schools in the UK, Spain and Singapore.
Background: Alba moved to Singapore from Spain in the summer of 2018. She believes that every child is unique in terms of life experiences, developmental readiness, and cultural heritage. Teaching at this stage is based on children’s experiences, through which they learn in a completely natural way (Hands-on).
Alba enjoys spending time with her friends and traveling with her fiancée. She loves music as she plays bagpipes and she also likes reading and swimming.
Teaching Experience: Having worked in the Early Childhood sector for almost 12 years, Ramona is a certified Early Childhood Educator and has taught children of all ages. Apart from being in various local pre-schools, she has also taught Special Needs children as a private tutor and helped them adjust into mainstream primary schools.
Background: When she’s not busy with work, Ramona usually engages her 2 young children – a 3.5 year old daughter and 5 months old son – in daily play activities. Her experience as a stay-home mum has helped her to be resourceful and creative when it comes to play. She believes in fostering a good rapport with children in order to understand their interests and learning pace. Ramona enjoys floral arrangement, trying out new recipes, and is always on the lookout for good books to add to her childrens’ library.
Teaching Experience: Alice has worked in Early Years for 8 years for private families, Kindergartens, Primary and Special Needs schools. She is a trained Norland Nanny and has worked around the world in the UK, New York and now Singapore.
Background: Alice moved to Singapore from New York at the start of 2019 with her fiancé Ben.
She is a keen sportswoman, traveller and loves the outdoors.
She believes every child should be given the opportunity to explore nature, hear it, feel it and of course get messy. It’s so important to let children learn through play and experience, and what better place than Rain Trees where there is an abundance of outdoor space to support this.
Teaching Experience: 10 years of Early Childhood experience with Certificate in Infant and Toddler care and also Diploma in Pre-school Teaching. Experience also includes working with children 2 months-6 years old in local pre-schools. Certified Infant Massage Instructor and Secretary for the International Association of Infant Massage, Singapore (IAIM). Licensed Music and Movement Teacher with Octaves by OMS.
Background: Mum to an active 4 year old boy. Angie delivers her lessons through fun and interactive activities using Music and Movement, puppetry, stories, cookery, sensorial activities and craft-works. She strives to ignite the love for learning the Mandarin Language in all children. Angie also loves travelling, cooking, reading and is a firm believer in Homeopathy.
Administration Experience: Over 10 years’ experience in Human Resources administration working in a number of different companies in both the UK and Singapore.
Background: Melanie moved from the UK to Singapore in 2006. Married with 2 children, she’s a keen traveller, enjoys experiencing different cultures, going for long walks and is building up on her running skills, but mostly just loves to be home with her family.
Administration Experience: CPA from New York. Finance/Banking experience over 9 years in USA, UK, India & Singapore.
Nationality: American/PR of Singapore
Background: Married with 2 children; moved to Singapore from UK in 2008. Enjoys traveling to different places, meeting different people. Passionate about the different physical training courses – swimming, Yoga, weights training.
